Dr Teoh Chin Sim – Sports Doctor

Sports physician Dr Teoh Chin Sim is Senior Consultant and Clinical Director of the Sports Medicine Centre at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, and Visiting Consultant at Thomson Medical Centre. Her main area of focus in her practice is exercise-related and musculoskeletal medicine. A qualified acupuncturist, she has a keen interest in the management of chronic pain, and sports nutrition supplementation to optimise health and performance.
In the past 25 years, Dr Teoh has been attending team physician to Singapore’s elite athletes at the South East Asian, Asian, Commonwealth and Paralympic Games. Her most recent national appointment is as Chief Medical Officer for Team SG to the Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta, Indonesia. She is currently a member of the Medical Commission of the Singapore National Olympic Council and Chairman of the Therapeutic Use Exemption Committee of Anti-Doping Singapore. She is also a Past President of the Sports Medicine Association of Singapore.
Dr Teoh interspersing these with stair-climbing, hiking and swimming to keep fit, slowing down from her days competitive track and field, squash and long-distance running.
Having once-upon-a-time thought long distance was for crazy people, she has gone on the complete several half and full marathons both here and in Malaysia. As she herself has suffered from stress fractures in the foot and upper tibia, iliotibial band friction syndrome, patello-femoral pain, and heat cramps, she truly empathises with those who consult her about their aches and pains from endurance training.
