Dr. Lim Zi Xiang
Education Lead
Dr. Lim Zi Xiang is a senior scientist at NUS, specialising in exercise physiology, recovery science, and biomarker discovery. His research explores how the body recovers from stressors such as exercise, surgery, and chronic disease, with a focus on oxidative stress and inflammation. He patented a novel bioassay to detect albumin thiol oxidation as a real-time recovery marker and integrates biochemistry, wearables, and non-invasive tools to personalise health and performance interventions. Passionate about translating scientific advances into practical applications, he works across athletic, general, clinical, and aging populations. As a dedicated educator and mentor, he received the Outstanding Mentor Award from NUS Medicine for guiding staff and students in sport, exercise physiology and biochemistry. Outside the lab, his favourite sport is javelin, which he competes whenever possible.
